Saint Kitts and Nevis is a twin-island country in the West Indies, located in the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea. The capital is Basseterre, situated on Saint Kitts. Both islands are volcanic in origin, featuring central peaks and tropical rainforests.

The country, with a combined area of 269 square kilometers, is the smallest sovereign state in the Western Hemisphere by both area and population, with about 53,000 residents. English is the official language. Once dependent on sugar as the main export, the economy now relies on tourism, manufacturing, and offshore finance. Saint Kitts and Nevis achieved independence from the UK in 1983 and is a member of the Commonwealth.
