Agios Andreas Castle, also known as the Castle of Saint Andrew, is a historic fortress in the city of Preveza, overlooking the entrance to the Ambracian Gulf.

It was originally built by the Ottomans in the early 18th century after the destruction of an earlier fortress and later expanded and strengthened by both the Venetians and Ali Pasha of Ioannina. The castle was an important military stronghold designed to protect the city and control maritime access to the region.

Its name comes from a church dedicated to Saint Andrew that was established inside the fortress during the Venetian period after a former mosque was converted for Christian worship. Today, Agios Andreas Castle is one of Preveza’s most significant historical monuments. Although parts of the original complex have been lost over time, its imposing walls, bastions, and strategic location continue to reflect the city’s Ottoman and Venetian heritage and its long military history.
