Al Alam Palace in Old Muscat, Oman, serves as the ceremonial palace of the Sultan and was built in 1972 on a site between two historic Portuguese forts, Al Jalali and Al Mirani.

The palace was designed by Indian architects in a flamboyant style featuring a striking façade of royal blue and gold columns, along with intricate carvings, large doorways, and decorative tiles that highlight traditional Islamic and Omani architectural influences. Although the palace itself is not open to the public, visitors can admire its impressive exterior and take photos near the gates.

Historically, it replaced an older palace built in the early 1800s and has hosted many important state ceremonies and diplomatic events, symbolizing the continuity of Oman’s royal heritage and its modern diplomatic stature. Its location amidst ancient fortifications enhances its majestic presence, making it one of Muscat’s most iconic landmarks.
