Alkantstrand Beach, which means "both sides" in Afrikaans, is the main swimming beach in Richards Bay on the KwaZulu-Natal coast of South Africa and holds the distinction of being the northernmost Blue Flag beach in the country.

This subtropical beach is open 365 days a year and features warm Indian Ocean waters with vigilant lifeguards on duty providing safe bathing conditions year-round. The beach is divided into two swimming areas on either side of the lifeguard station—one side offers direct ocean access from the sand, while the other requires climbing down sandbags to enter the water.

Alkantstrand is a popular spot for surfing, swimming, kitesurfing, and fishing, with designated surfing and kite-flying areas available, plus fishing points at the harbor and opportunities for deep-sea fishing. The beach offers amenities including an ablution block (restrooms), a restaurant, shaded picnic areas, braai (BBQ) sites, grassy patches, wheelchair accessibility, and car parking.

A lighthouse lookout point at the far end of the beach provides picturesque views of cargo ships entering and exiting the port area, and there's an adjacent skate park. The beach attracts crowds during holidays and school breaks, and while it's praised for safety and warm waters with soft waves, visitors are advised to avoid visiting during public holidays to escape overcrowding and to bring their own food since dining options are limited.
