Allègre is a small historic town in the Haute-Loire department of south-central France, perched at an altitude of around 1,000 meters in the Auvergne–Rhône-Alpes region.

It has about 900 residents and is surrounded by volcanic landscapes and scenic countryside. The town is best known for its medieval heritage, particularly the ruins of the Château d’Allègre, whose distinctive remains, known as “La Potence,” overlook the village.
