Alleuze is a small commune in the Cantal department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in south-central France, with a population of about 225 people as of 2022. It is situated on the edge of the Planèze plateau near Saint-Flour and bordered on one side by the lake created by the Grandval Dam on the Truyère River.

The area is characterized by farmland, forests near the lake, and numerous small streams flowing into the reservoir. Alleuze is known for the ruins of a fortified medieval castle built in the 13th century, historically associated with the bishops of Clermont, which overlooks the scenic gorges of the Truyère River.

The castle site includes round towers and a chapel dating from the 13th and 15th centuries, recognized as historical monuments. The commune also features religious heritage sites such as a 12th-century church and a 15th-century wayside cross.

The natural beauty and historic ruins make Alleuze a noteworthy location in the mountainous Massif Central region, with a mountain climate and nearby access to cultural sites in Saint-Flour.
