Amboise
France, France
Amboise is a historic town in the Centre-Val de Loire region of central France, located on the banks of the Loire River.
It is best known for the Royal Château d’Amboise, a former residence of French kings that played an important role during the Renaissance. The town is closely associated with Leonardo da Vinci, who spent the last years of his life at the nearby Château du Clos Lucé after being invited to France by King Francis I.
He died there in 1519, and his tomb is traditionally associated with the chapel at the Château d’Amboise. Today, Amboise is a popular destination known for its rich history, beautiful architecture, lively market-town atmosphere, and its location in the Loire Valley, a UNESCO-recognized cultural landscape famous for its castles, vineyards, and scenic river views.
