The Arboretum des Grands Murcins, located in Arcon, France, was created in 1936 by the “Amis des Arbres” and the Caisse d'Épargne.

It spans a large forested estate of about 120 hectares at an altitude of 800 meters, offering exceptional panoramic views of the Roanne plain, Matin Mountains, and on clear days, Mont Blanc.

The arboretum itself contains over 260 species of trees from around the world, including sequoia, Douglas fir, Japanese cryptomeria, and various oaks and birches. It functions as a botanical conservatory and recreational area with hiking trails, picnic spots, and educational facilities including an interactive exhibition chalet.

The site is inclusive, providing accessibility features and orienteering courses, and hosts guided walks and public events to promote nature awareness and outdoor activities.​
