Armona Island (Ilha da Armona) is a 9-kilometer-long and up to 1-kilometer-wide car-free island in the Algarve region of Portugal, part of the protected Ria Formosa Natural Park, with about 50 permanent residents who primarily earn their living from fishing and tourism.

The island is accessible by a 20-minute regular ferry ride from Olhão (Algarve's largest fishing port) or a quicker water taxi, with ferries running every hour during summer for about €3 return, making it an affordable and popular day trip destination. The main attraction is the pristine, uncrowded Atlantic-facing beach featuring chalk-white fine sand stretching for kilometers, crystal-clear calm warm waters, and shallow depths perfect for families with small children, while the river-facing side has a busier waterfront lined with cafés and restaurants.

The island has no cars, so visitors explore entirely on foot along a single long straight road past charming holiday homes and tiny cabins, with five café bars and restaurants including the popular Camaleão Beach bar and Restaurante Santo António on the Atlantic side.
