Baghdadi Museum
Baghdad, Yemen
The Baghdadi Museum in Baghdad, Iraq, is a local history museum established in 1970 in a 19th-century building near the Tigris River in the Al-Rusafa district, showcasing everyday Baghdadi life through 385 life-size wax statues arranged in 77 vivid scenes.
These dioramas capture traditional crafts, professions, street scenes, family rituals, weddings with zaffa processions, maqam music performances, tea houses, markets, and cultural customs from 100-150 years ago, preserving dialects, attire, and social heritage for future generations.
Damaged during the 2003 invasion, it closed briefly before reopening in 2008, remaining a cherished landmark evoking the simplicity of old Baghdad amid its folklore and communal traditions.
