Barrinha de Esmoriz, also known as Lagoa de Paramos, is a 396-hectare coastal brackish lagoon straddling the municipalities of Espinho and Ovar in northern Portugal's Aveiro district, forming a vital wetland sanctuary within the Natura 2000 network.

Renowned as an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International, it hosts over 100 bird species including the Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrinus) and reed warblers, serving as a key autumn stopover for migrants amid salt marshes, reed beds, and periodic sea connections via dune channels.

This protected natural reserve features scenic wooden walkways (Passadiços da Barrinha) opened in 2018, offering elevated trails, bird hides, viewpoints, and bridges linking Esmoriz Beach's wide northern sands—ideal for surfing with 1-3 meter beach breaks—to regenerating dunes and quieter habitats away from southern apartment developments.

Lifeguarded waters demand caution for swimmers due to strong currents, while traditional wooden palheiros (fishing huts) add historic charm to birdwatching hikes, sunset strolls, and eco-trails blending ocean, lagoon, and biodiversity.
