Blagaj Castle
Blagaj, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia
Blagaj Castle, also known as Blagaj Fortress or Stjepan-grad, is a medieval hilltop fortress overlooking the village of Blagaj in Bosnia and Herzegovina, perched 310 meters above the Buna River spring near Mostar.
Built possibly in the 15th century on earlier Roman-era foundations, it served as a strategic stronghold and residence for Bosnian noble Stjepan Vukčić Kosača, featuring an irregular polygonal layout with seven square towers, massive ramparts, and a steep access path, later repaired by Ottomans until 1835.
Designated a national monument in 2003 and part of a UNESCO tentative site with the nearby 16th-century Dervish monastery, it offers panoramic views of the valley and cliffs from its ruins.
