The village has historic roots dating back to at least the 12th century and features a 16th-century castle that is registered as a historic monument. Its population has gradually increased since the 1970s after a period of decline, and most homes there are single-family houses. The commune is part of the Pays d’Othe area and retains a rural and peaceful character with a low population density.
