Buljarica is a small, laid-back village in the Budva municipality of Montenegro, located on the Adriatic coast about 10 kilometers south of Petrovac.

It is best known for having the longest beach on the Budva Riviera—a 2.25-kilometer stretch of pebble and gravel shoreline framed by Mediterranean grasslands and ancient oak forests. The beach and surrounding Buljarica Bay are protected for their exceptional natural value, holding “Emerald” status under the Bern Convention since 2006 as a pristine habitat rich in biodiversity.

The area supports diverse ecosystems including wetlands, reed beds, and seagrass meadows, and serves as an important stopover for migratory birds, with 93 bird species recorded there. Historically a quiet fishing and farming community, Buljarica has gradually become a seasonal tourist destination prized for its unspoiled environment and relaxed, bohemian atmosphere rather than luxury development. With only around 205 permanent residents (per the 2011 census), it offers a peaceful alternative to Montenegro’s more crowded coastal towns.
