Cabrerets is a small village in the Lot department of the Occitanie region in southwestern France, with about 220 residents.
It sits at the meeting point of the Célé and Sagne rivers, surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs and the natural landscapes of the Causses du Quercy. The village is best known for the nearby Pech Merle Cave, one of France’s most important prehistoric sites, where visitors can see authentic cave paintings and engravings dating back more than 20,000 years.
Cabrerets also has a rich medieval heritage, including the ruins of the Château des Anglais perched on the cliffs above the village and the Château de Cabrerets overlooking the river. Its stone houses, narrow streets, and troglodyte dwellings built into the rock add to its distinctive character.
