Caix is a small rural commune in the Somme department of the Hauts-de-France region in northern France.
Located about 32 kilometers southeast of Amiens, it has around 700 residents and is surrounded by the agricultural landscapes of the Santerre area. The village is known for its historic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, a notable monument dating mainly from the 13th to 16th centuries and considered one of the most significant churches in the local region.
Caix also played a role in World War I. The village was under German occupation for much of the conflict before being recaptured by the 1st Canadian Division on 8 August 1918 during the Allied advance. Today, Caix combines historical heritage, a strong agricultural tradition, and a peaceful countryside setting, offering a quiet and authentic glimpse of rural northern France.
