Carvalhal Beach (Praia do Carvalhal) is one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal, featuring a huge, unspoiled expanse of white and golden sand surrounded by dunes and bathed by a calm sea, located in the Alentejo region between the deep blue Atlantic Ocean and lush green rice fields near the charming fishing village of Carvalhal in Grândola, Setúbal.

The beach is part of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve and is easily accessible via a well-paved tarmac road that winds through scenic rice paddies and pine forests, just 10 kilometers from the A2 motorway connecting Lisbon to the Algarve, making it increasingly popular, especially with day-trippers from Lisbon, and its parking lot fills up very quickly during peak times.

It holds EEC Blue Flag certification for environmental quality and safety, and offers comprehensive facilities including lifeguard surveillance during bathing season, sunbed and umbrella rentals, outdoor showers, a beach bar, two excellent beach restaurants (including Sublime Beach Club), outdoor parking, and watersports options for surfing, bodyboarding, and windsurfing, plus it is accessible for people with reduced mobility.
