Carvoeiro River Beach, or Praia Fluvial do Carvoeiro, is a striking freshwater beach in the Mação municipality of central Portugal, fed by the Carvoeiro River and set in a quiet, inland area about 25 minutes from the town of Mação.

It has been awarded the Blue Flag for several consecutive years thanks to its exceptionally clear water, large natural “lake‑like” swimming area, and very clean environment surrounded by tall pine trees that offer shade and help keep the air fresh and free of pollution. 

The site is well equipped for families and relaxed day‑trippers, with a separate children’s pool, toilets, showers, a snack park and bar, barbecue spots, picnic lawns, and even an amphibious wheelchair for people with reduced mobility, all at no entrance fee. Located a short drive along a dirt road from the village of Carvoeiro, it is a popular spot for cooling off in warm months while enjoying the peaceful, forested atmosphere away from the coast.
