Castle Geuzentempel, also known as Hechtermanskasteel, is a small neoclassical manor house in the Terkoest area of Alken, in the Belgian province of Limburg, built in 1849 for Gustavius van Weddingen and his mother.

The building is modest in scale, with a simple rectangular form and a small turret, and it stands within a landscaped park created in the second half of the 19thth century that gives the site a quiet, country- residence character rather than a fortified castle appearance. Its unusual name, “Geuzentempel” (meaning “Guerrilla Temple” or “Geuzen Temple”), is linked to the 19thth-century Belgian school struggle.

During which the term “geuzen” was used by opponents of state-controlled education to describe those defending religious schooling, and the name likely reflects this political and cultural context rather than any medieval or military history.
