Castle of Hamal
Belgium, Belgium
Castle of Hamal, also known as Hamal Castle, is a historic castle located in the hamlet of Hamal within Rutten, near Tongeren in the province of Limburg, Belgium.
It once served as the center of the small independent lordship of Rutten and was first mentioned in written records around 1214. The present structure largely dates from the late 18th century, though the site preserves earlier traces of medieval fortification, including a surviving Romanesque keep on the southern side of the current building.
