Castle of Seraing-le-Château
Verlaine, Belgium
Castle of Seraing-le-Château, located in the village of Seraing-le-Château within the municipality of Verlaine in Belgium's Liège Province, is a medieval fortress originally built around 1302 by the lords of Haneffe. It passed through noble families like the powerful Counts of La Marck, who ruled the Principality of Liège, and later the House of Arenberg, playing a key role in regional history including sieges during the Wars of Religion. Damaged by fire in 1869 and rebuilt in a medieval style by architect Paul Demany, the castle now stands in ruins with high defensive walls and towers, visible from public roads but closed to visitors for safety reasons.
