The Castle of Wannegem‑Lede, also known as Kasteel de Ghellinck d’Elseghem, is a late‑18th‑century neoclassical country house in the village of Wannegem‑Lede, part of the municipality of Kruisem in East Flanders, Belgium, and is often called the “Petit Trianon of Flanders” because of its elegant, small‑scale classical design inspired by the Petit Trianon in the Versailles park.

It was built between 1783 and 1786 for the wealthy Ghent industrialist and nobleman Alphonse Baut de Rasmon, who had bought the lordship of Wannegem‑Lede in 1765, and was designed by the Brussels architect Gilles‑Barnabé Guimard, one of the main figures of Austrian‑Netherlands neoclassicism who also shaped the Royal Square, Warande Park and the Palace of the Nation in Brussels.

The building is a true “maison de plaisance”, that is, a comfortable aristocratic residence intended for living and social life rather than for defence, and it is laid out in a pure Louis XVI / classicist style, with symmetrical façades, a central block and balanced wings, while the interior entrance hall and grand salon are decorated with fine neoclassical stucco work by the Italian Moretti brothers.

The surrounding park was planned in the informed taste of the German garden theorist Christian Cay Lorenz Hirschfeld, with a classic “ganzenvoet” layout of three vista paths, a pond with an island and a small tholos (a circular garden pavilion), red beeches, exotic trees, an orangery and a pheasantry.
