Caxias Beach, known locally as Praia de Caxias, is a small, sandy beach in the municipality of Oeiras, just a few kilometers west of Lisbon, right by the Tagus River estuary.

It is one of the closest beaches to the city center and is easily reached by train—only about 15 minutes from Lisbon’s Cais do Sodré station, with the beach directly across from the Caxias rail stop. The beach is divided into three stretches of sand, with the main section lying between the Giribita Fort and the mouth of the Lage Creek, and two smaller strands separated by the 17th‑century Fort of São Bruno, which adds a quiet, historic atmosphere to the scene.

The water is generally calm and protected from strong Atlantic winds, making it suitable for swimming and relaxed family outings, while the nearby promenade, esplanades, and views of the Ponte 25 de Abril give it a more urban, Lisbon‑region feel than the more rugged Atlantic beaches farther along the coast.
