Cayos Cochinos
Bay Islands / Atlántida, Honduras
Cayos Cochinos is a small group of unspoiled islands located about 30 kilometers northeast of La Ceiba, Honduras, part of the Bay Islands department, consisting of two main islands - Cayo Menor and Cayo Grande and 13 smaller coral cays.
The islands are a protected marine reserve managed by the Honduras Coral Reef Foundation, known for their remarkably clear turquoise waters, vibrant coral reefs, and abundant marine life, making them a haven for snorkelers and divers.
The only inhabitants are small Garifuna fishing communities who use traditional fishing methods, and the islands have no roads or vehicles, ensuring a peaceful natural environment with pristine beaches, hiking trails, and unique wildlife like the pink-colored Cochino Cays Boa.
