Celles is a small rural commune in the Cantal department of the Auvergne–Rhône-Alpes region in central France.
Situated at an elevation of around 800–1,075 meters near the Alagnon Valley, it has a population of just over 200 residents and is surrounded by the volcanic landscapes and mountain scenery for which Cantal is known. The village is notable for its historic Templar commandery, a reminder of its medieval past, and for its peaceful setting within a region popular for hiking, nature, and traditional Auvergne culture.
After serving as part of the larger municipality of Neussargues en Pinatelle between 2016 and 2024, Celles regained its status as an independent commune on 1 January 2025. Today, Celles offers visitors a quiet countryside atmosphere, historic heritage, and easy access to the natural beauty of the Cantal mountains.
