Château Beurthé
Gouvy, Belgium, Belgium
Château Beurthé, also called Château de Steinbach, is a historic castle in the village of Steinbach within Gouvy municipality in southeastern Belgium's Luxembourg Province, overlooking a park along the Steinbach River.
With 11th-century schist foundations and rebuilt in Louis XV style by Austrian architect Albert Starck after fires in 1750-1766, its 1.5-meter-thick walls, towers topped with elephant-shaped weathervanes bearing family crests, and added 19th-century farm wings create an Austrian-influenced manor privately owned as a residence.
Classified heritage since 1977, it opens briefly for heritage days, showcasing harmonious salons and a preserved 16th-century wood oven amid Ardennes greenery.
