The Château de Balâtre, also known as the château‑ferme de Balâtre, is a fortified castle‑farm in the village of Balâtre, now part of Jemeppe‑sur‑Sambre in the province of Namur, Belgium.

It sits on a hill overlooking the valley of the Grand‑Vaux, a tributary of the Ligne, close to the village church and the centre of Balâtre. The original core is a medieval donjon (square tower) probably built in the early 13th century, which once belonged to a feudal holding of the County of Namur held by Nicolas de Condé and Isabelle de Morialmé, and later passed through the families of Seilles, del Juverie, T’Serclaes, Tilly and de Ponti.

Over the centuries the donjon was expanded into a quadrilateral fortified ensemble with three main limestone ranges of about 50 metres each and a smaller eastern wing, enclosing a square courtyard of around 900 m², with a large 17th‑century barn and a square tower facing the village square, giving the site a distinctive castle‑farm appearance.

The façades and roofs of the château‑ferme and a protection zone around it are listed as protected heritage since 1997. After more than fifty years of vacancy and decay, the site was bought by a citizen cooperative founded in 2024, the “Coopérative citoyens du Château de Balâtre,” with the aim of restoring the buildings, creating associative and cultural activities, developing eco‑responsible tourism and experimenting with sustainable rural housing, so that the compound is currently undergoing renovation and gradual animation rather than being a traditional museum or private residence.
