Château de Grune
Nassogne, Belgium, Belgium
Château de Grune in Nassogne, Belgium, has a history dating back to at least 1290 under the feudal jurisdiction of the County of La Roche.
The current château was rebuilt in 1613 by Gilles de Mozet after an earlier fire destroyed the previous structure. It features a quadrilateral shape with a seigniorial house and an adjoining farm, once surrounded by ditches and a drawbridge, elements that have mostly disappeared today.
The castle underwent restorations in the 19th century, notably by the Pety de Thozée family and later by the Count Maurice de Ramaix, who left his coat of arms on the building. The castle suffered damage during World War II but was partially restored in the late 1940s and 1950s. It is a protected heritage site and remains a private residence, set in an English-style park with rare and sometimes centuries-old trees, embodying the rich noble history and natural beauty of the region.
