Château de la Croix St-Hubert
Flémalle, Belgium, Belgium
The Château de la Croix Saint-Hubert is a private 19th-century manor in the Ramet quarter of Flémalle, province of Liège, Belgium, set along the historic route Napoléon (Chemin neuf) near Ivoz-Ramet.
Originally a simple large square building in the mid-1800s, it is attributed to Emmanuel Hallet and later associated with the industrialist Maurice Chaudoir and his son André, with the distinctive English cottage appearance and corner tourelles added under Charles Joseph Chaudoir, who gave the residence its nostalgic name in reference to the “new road” that Napoleon had once used.
The château stands in the middle of a spacious, green park and is surrounded by mature trees and open landscapes that link the nearby woods, the ruisseau de la Rochette and the Gros Chêne hamlet, making it a visually prominent landmark rather than a public medieval castle.
