Château de Porcheresse
Havelange, Belgium, Belgium
Château de Porcheresse in Havelange is a classical 18th‑century château in the Condroz village of Porcheresse, part of Havelange in the province of Namur, Belgium.
It was built around 1750–1760 by Pierre‑Robert de Cartier de Marchienne, a prominent Liège politician and writer, and is composed of two L‑shaped buildings: a long service wing (about 40 metres) along the road with a high Louis XIV‑style entrance gate bearing the Cartier family coat of arms, and a main château placed perpendicularly, built of brick on five bays and two storeys above a limestone base, regrouping around a spacious courtyard with a chapel.
The estate is set within a private, partly wooded domain protected from the road by a limestone wall, and the entrance gate and the roof of the château are listed as protected heritage since 1979, while the interiors retain period furnishings and the building is now used as a private residence that can also be rented for events rather than as a public museum.
