Château de Rivieren
Ganshoren, Belgium, Belgium
Rivieren Castle (Château de Rivieren; Dutch: Kasteel de Rivieren or Kasteel ter Rivieren) is a rare medieval‑style castle in Ganshoren, northwest of Brussels, regarded as the only surviving feudal‑style castle in the Brussels‑Capital Region.
Originally a defensive tower, the present building grew in successive phases from the 12th to the 19th century, centred on a 13th‑century donjon (tower) with later wings added in Gothic, Renaissance and eclectic styles, and it is surrounded by a pond that is a remnant of the large medieval moat and set within a 10‑hectare landscaped park known as Albert Park, arranged in a romantic style by the German landscape gardener Brûcke.
