Château de Walzin is a large, neo-Gothic castle in the Belgian province of Namur, located in the hamlet of Walzin (formerly part of Dréhance), which is now within the town of Dinant.

It stands dramatically on a steep rock over the right bank of the river Lesse, about 5 km before the Lesse joins the Meuse, in the wooded area known as Bois du Chaleux. The castle’s origins date back to the 13th century, and it was built as a defensive and surveillance post for Dinant, controlling the southern approach to the town.

Although foundations and early structures may be medieval, the oldest clearly preserved parts of the current building are from the 15th to 16th centuries, including a massive D-shaped keep (or “tower maîtresse”) equipped for artillery and a quadrangular tower in the south wing, while the rest of the castle has been heavily modified and unified in style during major 19th- and 20th-century restorations, especially between 1930 and 1932.

The castle has been described as the “Belgian Neuschwanstein” because of its striking cliff-top silhouette and romantic appearance, and it has attracted artists such as Gustave Courbet and Victor Hugo, who drew the site in 1863. Today, Château de Walzin is a private estate and does not offer regular public visits, but it can be admired from the surrounding area on foot via hiking trails or from the river Lesse during kayak descents, and it is officially listed as a protected site and as part of the exceptional heritage of Wallonia.
