Verified Château de Winerotte

Dalhem, Belgium, Belgium

Château de Winerotte is a large historic manor house in the village of Warsage, part of Aubel (sometimes associated with Dalhem in local references), in the province of Liège, Herve region, Wallonia, Belgium.

Its origins go back to the 13th century, but the imposing building that visitors see today was constructed around 1920 by Emile Deshayes (1875–1946), a wealthy industrialist from Gembloux, who transformed the site into a prestigious residence set within a wooded park just above the Voer valley, close to the valley of the Meuse and the orchards of the Pays de Herve.

During the Second World War, the château served as a shelter for Allied wounded at the end of the 1940–45 war, adding a wartime episode to its history alongside its role as a noble dwelling and estate centre. Today the building is privately owned and has been converted into a luxury gîte or holiday residence that can accommodate up to 22 people in ten spacious rooms and ten bathrooms, while preserving the historic character of the castle and integrating modern amenities.

Including an indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, salt grotto, sensory shower and hammam, a games room with billiard table, a bar, a multi‑purpose hall, and a private garden with wooded and grassy areas, a pétanque pitch and a panoramic terrace overlooking the surrounding landscape and the Meuse valley.
