Château des Moudreux

Château des Moudreux is the ruin of a small medieval castle in the woods of Brisy, near the village of Bistain, in the commune of Gouvy, province of Luxembourg, Wallonia, Belgium.

Archaeological excavations carried out between 1967 and 1981 by the Ségnia circle of Houffalize showed that the site was a small fortification built in the 11th century, probably abandoned by the end of the 14th century, and that it was never a major noble residence but rather a modest defensive stronghold, possibly linked to the ancient villa of Cherain and to the lords of Houffalize, though its exact lords remain unknown. 

Today the Château des Moudreux is a protected historic ruin managed by the Ségnia circle, and it is mainly visited through hiking trails in the forest, such as the 3 km Bistain–Château de Moudreux route, rather than as a formal tourist site, adding to the medieval and archaeological character of the wooded landscape of Gouvy.
