Château Du Sartay Asbl
Chaudfontaine, Belgium, Belgium
The Château du Sartay ASBL is a non‑profit organisation that manages the historic Château du Sartay and its park in Embourg, a section of the town of Chaudfontaine in Liège province, Belgium, primarily as a venue for events, retreats and educational activities, and as the site of the Collège Episcopal du Sartay secondary school.
The château itself was built in 1927 in a neo‑Mosan Renaissance style and is surrounded by a wooded estate with a large parking area, sport facilities and spacious rooms that can host up to around 120 people for meals, while the kitchens are fully professional and a terrace is available when weather permits.
The ASBL uses the site for the organisation of non‑residential events such as company seminars, cultural manifestations, youth camps (with camping under tents), family celebrations, anniversaries, communions and weddings, often with catering and event support, and it also provides the school‑refectory and recreation area for private parties on weekends under the “ASBL Fonds de Soutien du Sartay”.
Historical background shows that the property was originally acquired in the 19th century by the Society of the Sacred Heart, that after destruction in 1944 the Sacred Heart congregation moved into the château and gradually built a secondary school there, which opened in 1953 and was handed over to the Diocese of Liège in 1981, forming today the Collège Episcopal du Sartay, which is under the ASBL structure known as Collège Episcopal du Sartay (ASBL) and operates as a large‑scale subsidised general secondary education establishment for boys and girls.
