Chateau Ferme de Falaën
Onhaye, Belgium
Chateau Ferme de Falaën is a fortified farmhouse located in the village of Falaën in Onhaye, Belgium, built between 1670 and 1673 by the Polchet family to protect themselves from brigands.
The large quadrilateral structure is surrounded by three corner towers and was once encircled by a moat, now replaced by a three-arched bridge. It retains its defensive character and is set around a spacious courtyard accessed via a tower-porch. The chateau has passed through several noble families over the centuries and has been classified as a historic monument since 1972.
Today, it stands as an important heritage site amidst the picturesque Belgian countryside, although it is a private residence and generally not open to the public.
