Chateau Thermes de Cugnon
Bertrix, Belgium, Belgium
Château Thermes de Cugnon is a historic castle and group‑accommodation complex in the village of Cugnon, part of the municipality of Bertrix in the Ardennes of Belgium, set on a wooded estate of about 1.5 hectares along the Semois valley.
The castle was originally built two centuries ago by the prince of Löwenstein and in the early 20th century became the property of the Pierlot family; its most famous resident was Hubert Pierlot, who lived there as Belgium’s prime minister in exile during the Second World War and later received the title of count.
After passing through the Pierlot heirs, the property was acquired and renovated by the Schuwer family, who transformed it into “Château Thermes de Cugnon,” a luxury venue for groups of around 15 to 40, sometimes up to 50 people, that can be rented exclusively for weekends, family reunions, wedding weekends, seminars or corporate outings.
The interior includes two salons, a large dining room, a professional kitchen, 15 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, while the outbuilding and annexes provide a heated indoor swimming pool, a sauna and two jacuzzies, as well as a separate party hall and a children’s play area with games such as billiards, air hockey, table football and trampolines.
The estate’s landscaped grounds offer a south‑facing terrace, walking paths, views over the Semois where swimming is possible in summer, and opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and other outdoor activities, making the château a sought‑together rural retreat in the peaceful Ardennes countryside of Cugnon and Bertrix.
