Créhange is a commune located in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region of north-eastern France. It covers an area of about 10.46 square kilometers and has an elevation ranging from 232 to 388 meters. As of 2022, the population of Créhange was approximately 3,745 residents.

The commune was historically significant as the capital of the County of Kriechingen until 1793, when it was part of the Holy Roman Empire. It is situated close to Metz, the capital of the Moselle department, about 30 kilometers away, and is approximately 310 kilometers from Paris.

The current mayor, serving from 2020 to 2026, is François Lavergne. Créhange is also the birthplace of the notable writer Joël Egloff. The area belongs to the arrondissement of Forbach-Boulay-Moselle and the canton of Faulquemont. The community is part of the intercommunal structure known as CC District urbain de Faulquemont.

The region exhibits a population density close to 360 people per square kilometer, reflecting a small but stable community in a historically rich and geographically varied part of France.
