Elephant Rocks
William Bay, Western Australia, Australia, Australia
Elephant Rocks is a striking coastal spot in William Bay National Park, about 15 kilometres west of Denmark on the south coast of Western Australia.
It gets its name from a cluster of massive, rounded granite boulders that resemble a herd of elephants partly submerged in the shallow turquoise water, creating a highly photogenic and memorable seascape. A short walking trail leads from the car park to a lookout and then descends by steps between the rocks to a small, sheltered cove where swimming is usually calm, although strong currents can appear at times.
The area contrasts sharply with the surrounding pink‑orange granite because a strip of dark dolerite rock runs along part of the bay, and Elephant Rocks is easily combined with a visit to the nearby Greens Pool beach via a coastal walk around the headland.
