The Ethnographic Museum in Khartoum, Sudan, was established in 1956 to preserve and showcase the cultural heritage of Sudan’s many ethnic communities.

The museum housed collections illustrating the everyday lives, traditions, crafts, tools, clothing, musical instruments, and customs of people from different regions of the country, offering visitors a broad view of Sudan’s cultural diversity.

Its exhibits included displays on nomadic groups, agricultural communities, traditional education, weddings, handicrafts, and regional lifestyles, making it an important center for understanding Sudan’s social and cultural history. Although the museum was affected by looting and damage during the conflict that began in 2023, it remains a significant symbol of Sudan’s rich and varied cultural heritage.
