Faucigny
France, France
Faucigny is a small village in the Haute-Savoie department of southeastern France, set on the slopes above the Arve Valley and surrounded by Alpine scenery.
With fewer than 700 residents, it retains a peaceful rural character while being located not far from Geneva and the larger towns of the region. The village is historically significant because it gave its name to the former province of Faucigny, an important medieval territory in Savoy.
A castle was built here around the 10th century, and the Barons of Faucigny once ruled much of the surrounding area from this strategic stronghold. Today, Faucigny is known for its rich heritage, attractive mountain views, and the ruins of the Château de Faucigny, which overlook the valley and recall the village’s important role in the history of Haute-Savoie.
