Fonte dos Agriões (literally “Cress Spring”) is a natural spring deep inside Portugal’s Mata Nacional do Urso protected forest, roughly 800 meters from the Atlantic coast near the unspoiled Praia do Osso da Baleia, and is named after the watercress (agrião) that grows there.

Access is only possible on foot or by 4×4 vehicle along firebreaks and forest tracks, making it a remote, secluded spot where hunters and nature lovers come for picnics and quiet rest amid pine trees, heather, and native vegetation. The spring is a popular picnic and resting place within the forest, valued for its fresh water and peaceful sounds of nature, and it serves as a waystation on trails between Praia do Pedrógão and Praia do Osso da Baleia, where visitors can enjoy shade, cool water, and a short walk to a wide, clean sandy beach.

Because it lies in a protected area with no commercial facilities, it is best visited with your own food and water, staying on existing paths and respecting the natural environment.
