Foz do Lizandro
Portugal, Portugal
Foz do Lizandro, also known as Praia da Foz do Lizandro, is a wide sandy beach on the mouth of the Rio Lizandro, just south of the town of Ericeira in the Mafra municipality, about 45 minutes north of Lisbon, Portugal.
It is one of the largest and most popular beaches in the Ericeira area, with a long stretch of sand, calm riverside lagoons, and Atlantic waves that make it suitable both for families and for water‑sports such as surfing and stand‑up paddleboarding.
The beach is Blue Flag certified, has good facilities including toilets, showers, a car park, and a line of cafés and restaurants along the access road, and is known for a lively but relaxed atmosphere, especially in summer.
Surfers appreciate it as a beginner‑friendly sand‑bottom break with multiple peaks along the beach, while children and less adventurous visitors enjoy playing in the shallow river pools and walking along the broad shoreline framed by low cliffs.
