Garden Route Botanical Garden is a small, mainly indigenous botanical garden in George, Western Cape, lying at the edge of town against the foothills of the Outeniqua Nature Reserve. Covering about 12 hectares, it focuses on plants native to the Southern Cape—particularly fynbos, forest and wetland species—and includes features such as the South Cape Herbarium, an indigenous plant nursery, the Moriarty Environmental Education Centre, natural wetlands with bird hides, and dams that support rich bird and insect life. Managed by the Garden Route Botanical Garden Trust as a non‑profit, it offers low‑cost entry and provides walking and hiking paths, a meditation trail, picnic spots, occasional live music events and a café, making it both a conservation and education site and a popular, relaxed green space for local residents and visitors.
