Highland House Ruins (Willybob)

Barbuda (near Codrington), Antigua and Barbuda

---

The Highland House Ruins, locally known as “Willybob,” are the remains of an 18th-century estate located in the Barbuda Highlands, about three miles north of Codrington in Antigua and Barbuda.

Once occupied by the Codrington family, who controlled much of Barbuda during the colonial era, the site now consists mainly of stone foundations, lower walls, and a large cistern. Perched on one of the island’s highest points, the ruins offer some of the best panoramic views in Barbuda, allowing visitors to see the coastline, lagoon, Atlantic Ocean, and surrounding landscapes from a single vantage point.

Today, the site is valued as an important cultural heritage landmark that provides insight into Barbuda’s colonial history while also rewarding visitors with peaceful scenery and spectacular island views. Its combination of history, archaeology, and natural beauty makes it a memorable stop for those exploring the island.
