Inhaca Island lies about 32 kilometers east of Maputo in Mozambique's Maputo Bay, a subtropical 52-square-kilometer coral outcrop measuring 12 by 7 kilometers with Mount Inhaca rising 104 meters, separating the bay from the Indian Ocean and linked to the mainland's Machangulo Peninsula by a treacherous 500-meter tidal channel at Ponta Torres.

Renowned for world-class diving and snorkeling at sites like Baixa do Danie coral reef with overhangs, caves, turtles, sharks, and rays, plus shallow Coral Gardens perfect for beginners, it features pristine beaches, mangroves, inland swamps, and the historic Inhaca Lighthouse offering panoramic views amid diverse birdlife and marine reserves. 

Home to villages like Inhaca, Inguane, and Nhaquene with lodges on the northwest coast, it's reached by ferry or small plane from Maputo for eco-tourism blending fishing communities, Portuguese colonial remnants, and protected biodiversity drawing adventurers to its warm, unspoiled shores.​
