The Jardin Botanique de la Villa Thuret in Antibes, France, was established in 1857 by Gustave Thuret, a botanist specializing in algae who used the garden for plant acclimatization trials, collaborating with scientist Jean-Baptiste Édouard Bornet.

Covering over 3.5 hectares, it features around 1,600 exotic tree and shrub species and was the first privately funded botanical research laboratory in France. The garden significantly contributed to shaping the landscape and horticulture of the Côte d'Azur by introducing numerous exotic plants, especially palms.

It was bequeathed to the French state in 1878 and is now managed by the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRAE), serving as both a public garden and a center for botanical research and education. Known for its historical significance and captivating plant collections, it continues to offer guided tours free of charge under expert botanists.
