Kamerlengo Castle
Trogir, Croatia, Croatia
Kamerlengo Castle is a 15th-century Venetian fortress in Trogir, Croatia, built between 1424 and 1437 on the southwestern tip of the historic island town's small peninsula to defend against invasions after Venice's conquest.
Named for the Venetian chamberlain who governed the city, this trapezoidal stronghold expanded the existing 14th-century Veriga Tower with four corner towers, thick walls, and a moat, featuring Gothic reliefs of lions and family coats of arms on its chapel dedicated to St. Mark.
Once facing demolition in the 19th century after city walls were razed, it now stands as a prime vantage point for panoramic views of Trogir's UNESCO core and harbor, hosting summer concerts, film shoots, and tourist climbs via its battlements.
