Kasteel Crabbenburg is a historic castle in the village of Destelbergen, East Flanders, Belgium, located at the junction of Eenbeekstraat and Zevensterrede.

Although no earlier medieval structure has been confirmed, the site was already known in the 18th century as a “hof van plaisance” (country pleasure house) set in a park that even included an amphitheater, and the name Crabbenburg (or Krabbenburg) has long been associated with the local “Grooten Wal te Crobbenburgh”.

Between 1821 and 1823, Frans Heynderycx, later senator and the first mayor of Destelbergen, commissioned the construction of a new estate on the grounds, designed by the Ghent architect J.B. Van de Cappelle in a strict Empire style. The main building resembles a Greek temple oriented to the south, with a three‑storey, three‑bay façade, originally containing an orangery on the lower level, a bel‑étage above, and a third floor, and decorated on the fronton with a sculpture by C. van Ophem showing Apollo in his sun‑wagon accompanied by putti and allegorical figures.

In 1892, under Baron P. Heynderycx, the castle was enlarged and given a monumental entrance staircase, and the layout was further refined by converting earlier gridded water features into serpentine ponds to create a more landscape‑style park, while a large orangery built in 1842 for Heynderycx’s collection of exotic plants was later demolished around 1942. The estate also includes a group of service buildings gathered to the east of the castle (two staff houses, a coach house and stables) and a separate castle farm north of those buildings with a neo‑Gothic barn that visually forms part of the main complex.
