Kasteel De Wapenaer
Beernem, Belgium, Belgium
Kasteel De Wapenaer, also known as Kasteel Wapenaar, is a 19th‑century castle just northeast of Oedelem, a village in the municipality of Beernem in West Flanders, Belgium, located at Ruweschuurstraat 5.
The present building was erected in 1888 according to the land register, in the name of the mayor Jean van Ruymbeke, and at the same time a park was laid out around it; in 1909 the castle was substantially rebuilt and extended, giving it the volume and appearance it still has today.
The house is described as a neo‑Gothic castle, with a relatively compact, residential character rather than a large fortified structure, and it is set in woodland near the forests of Kallekesbos (Burkelbos) and Koningsbos, giving the estate a quiet, wooded ambience typical of the Oedelem–Beernem landscape.
